What Is Epoxy Flooring?
Epoxy is a two-part coating system — a resin and a hardener — that chemically bonds to concrete to create an incredibly hard, seamless surface. When applied correctly, it produces a high-gloss finish that resists stains, chemicals, impacts, and heavy foot traffic.
It's long been the standard for garages and industrial spaces, but in recent years designers and homeowners have embraced epoxy as a stunning choice for basements, kitchens, retail spaces, and offices.
The Benefits
Durability — Properly applied epoxy can last 20+ years with minimal maintenance. It's far more resistant to cracking, staining, and wear than standard concrete or vinyl flooring.
Seamless and sanitary — No grout lines means no places for bacteria, moisture, or dirt to hide. Epoxy is an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial food-prep environments.
Aesthetic range — From solid colours to metallic swirls, flake systems, and even glow-in-the-dark finishes, the design possibilities are nearly limitless.
Easy to clean — A quick mop or wipe-down keeps epoxy looking new. Spills don't penetrate the surface.
What the Application Process Looks Like
Concrete must be ground or acid-etched to open its pores before epoxy will bond properly. We apply a primer coat, followed by the base colour, optional decorative elements (flakes or metallics), and a clear topcoat that provides UV stability and additional protection. Each layer needs adequate cure time.
Done right, the finished floor looks like polished glass — and holds up to everything you throw at it.
